Running With The Devil

The True Story of the ATF's Infiltration Of The Hells Angels

Kerrie Droban

In Arizona a group of ATF officers lead by Jay "Bird" Dobyns began Operation Black Biscuit.  The idea wasn't to go undercover in the Hells Angels direct, that would be too risky and take to long.  Operation Black Biscuit took the side door and is covered in this book called Running With The Devil.  Using the name of another outlaw motorcycle gang, the ATF officers and one informant started their own motorcycle club and began hanging around the Arizona Hells Angels.  Soon they were rubbing elbows, doing deals and becoming prospects in The Hells Angels.  If you liked Under And Alone, you'll like Running With The Devil as it is an inside look into one of the more famous undercover investigations of the Hells Angels.  The ATF group which formed Operation Black Biscuit was so successful, they made the Hells Angels believe that they had murdered a member of The Mongols and there is a dispute between Jay Dobins and The Hells Angels over whether he was really offered membership in The Hells Angels following the fake murder.
